A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the thirty-second representative district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $      or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2009-2010 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the benefit of the thirty-second representative district, as follows:

I.   To be expended by the Department of Education:

     A.   Aiea Elementary School, Oahu

(1)  Design and construction of a covered walkway connecting Building C with the cafeteria.

     Design                                             20,000

     Construction                                      180,000

     Total Funding                                     200,000

     B.   Aliamanu Middle School, Oahu

          (1)  Installation of 3 split-system air

              conditioning units in multi-purpose meeting room,              S-1.

     Total Funding                                      35,000

     C.   Moanalua Elementary School, Oahu

          (1)  Plan, design and construction for

              eight classrooms to replace existing portable                  classrooms.

     Total Funding                                   4,000,000

          (2)  Plan, design, and construction to

              expand library building to accommodate

              technology center for students

     Total Funding                                    300,000

          (3)  Construct roofing over existing

              open walkways

     Total Funding                                       30,000

(4)  Resurface, repaint, and repair existing basketball/volleyball courts to meet the wellness initiative implemented by the department of education.

     Total Funding                                     132,000

     D.   Moanalua Middle School, Oahu

          (1)  Plan, design, & construction of a campus-wide

              electrical upgrade.

     Total Funding                                     500,000

          (2)  Expansion of air conditioning to the

              2nd floor of building D

     Total Funding                                     585,000

     E.   Mokulele Elementary School, Oahu

(1)  Design and install upgrade for electrical capacity for the school.

     Total Funding                                     750,000

(2)  Design and construction of an ADA compliant elevator in Building F.

     Total Funding                                   1,000,000

(3)  Design and construction of roofing for a walkway from Building F to Office.

     Total Funding                                      50,000

     F.   Nimitz Elementary School, Oahu

          (1)  Design and construction for campus wide air conditioning; ground & site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

     Total Funding                                   7,223,000

          (2)  Design, construction, and equipment for a new library building, ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

     Total Funding                                   7,156,000

     G.   Pearl Harbor Elementary School, Oahu

          (1)  Design and construction for a new library building; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

     Total Funding                                   7,156,000

          (2)  Design and construction for a parking expansion and improvements.

     Total Funding                                     740,000

     H.   Radford High School, Oahu

          (1)  Replacement of gymnasium floor.

     Total Funding                                     200,000

          (2)  Restoration of track.

     Total Funding                                   1,400,000

     SECTION 2.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement project authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2012, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2009.
