HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

Requesting the City and County of honolulu to appropriate funds for another LIFEGUARD at waimanalo beach.

 

 

WHEREAS, Waimanalo Beach is a popular spot for family gatherings, and where many keiki go to swim; and

WHEREAS, there is only one lifeguard assigned to watch over the entire Waimanalo Beach, despite the vast distance between the lifeguard stand and the remainder of the beach; and

WHEREAS, the lack of lifeguards makes Waimanalo Beach an unsafe place to swim; and

WHEREAS, recently a child nearly drowned at Waimanalo Beach, thus making this request an immediate priority; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2001, that the City and County of Honolulu is requested to appropriate funds for another lifeguard for Waimanalo Beach to ensure more safety for the users of the beach including our keiki; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Mayor and City Council of the City and County of Honolulu.
