A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO THE STATE WATER CODE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $1 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002 and the sum of $1 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003 to fund the implementation of the agricultural water use and development plan for the following:

(1) Researching and data gathering of existing

systems on Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Molokai,

Oahu, and Hawaii;

(2) Mapping and data compilation of existing

systems statewide;

(3) Inventorying existing agricultural land use

and irrigation water requirements on Kauai,

Lanai, Maui, Molokai, Oahu, and Hawaii; and

(4) Developing an agricultural water plan, including

mapping, reports, and tables.

The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of agriculture for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 2. This plan is deemed necessary to qualify for federal aid financing or reimbursement pursuant to Public Law 106-566.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
