Dear Friends,
It is a privilege to represent the people of Mililani and Waipio Gentry at the Hawaii State Legislature. I am currently serving as the Chairman of the Tourism and Culture Committee as well as sit on the Comittees of Agriculture, Consumer Protection and Commerce, Economic Development and Business Concerns, and Judiciary. In addition, I am serving as the legislative representative on the Oahu Metropolitian Planning Organization (OMPO) Policy Committee, which plans Oahu transportation issues. I am also one of the appointed representatives serving on the Hawaii Sustainability Task Force 2050 to help create a sustainable Hawaii. Mahalo for all of your support and your interest in the legislative process. This website has been created to provide you with resources in learning about this process and we would be happy to assist you at any time. My staff and I are dedicated to working hard in order to serve you this year. Please feel free to contact us and thank you for your continued support!
Aloha,
Ryan Yamane

TOPICS OF INTEREST
- Hawaii 2050 Sustainability Task Force. I am committed to continue planning for Hawaii's future in the areas of housing, workforce development, energy, public infrastructure, education, population growth, and sustainability of natural resources. House Bill No. 2805, C.D. 1, extends the deadline for the Auditor to submit a sustainability plan and for the Task Force to complete its work.
- Emergency Medical Services. With the increasing population in our area, and with the loss of the military's helicopters, there is a real need to provide additional ambulance coverage to Central Oahu. House Bill No. 582, H.D. 1, would have provided funding to permanently house a fully-functioning ambulance in the Waipio/Mililani area. The ambulance would have speeded up response times in emergency situations and help to save lives.
- Sex Crime Statute of Limitations. I was shocked to learn that victims of child sex abuse only have until the age of 24 to report such horrendous crimes to the police. House Bill No. 583, would have increased the amount of time to 10 years after the age of 18 that victims would have to report sexual offenses against them. However, this measure failed to gain Senate approval during the 2006 Legislative Session.
