United States Small Business Administration An independent agency of the federal government, the U.S. Small Business Administration was created in 1953 to aid, counsel, assist, and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise, and to maintain and strengthen the overall national economy. The site is divided into several areas, including a small business planner to help owners manage their business, services meant to help businesses expand through SBA programs and services, tools to increase owners' business knowldege and productivity, and links to local resources.
