TOPICS OF INTEREST
- Renewable Energy
Representative Morita is committed to promoting the use of renewable energy in the islands. House Bill No. 2175, C.D. 1, otherwise known as the Energy Self-Sufficiency Act of 2006, contains provisions that encourage the use of renewable energy in public schools and state facilities and expedites county permits for "green building" construction projects. 
- Hawaii Energy Policy Forum
As Chair of the House Committee on Energy & Environmental Protection, Representative Morita is focused on planning for Hawaii's sustainable future. House Bill No. 2848, C.D. 1, provides funding to reconvene the Hawaii Energy Policy Forum to develop an action plan, timeline, and benchmarks to encourage Hawaii's leaders and stakeholders to implement recommendations that ensure the use of efficient energy resources. 
- Bottle Bill Improvements
Representative Morita believes Hawaii can be the most energy-efficient state in the nation and has introduced House Bill No. 1948, H.D. 2, which would have improve the State's efforts in recycling bottles and cans. However, this measure failed to gain legislative approval.

- May 13, 2006. Representative Morita's efforts to develop a comprehensive energy policy for Hawaii have paid off with the passage and enactment of the Omnibus Renewal Energy bill. (Full Article)
