Aloha Friends,

As a long time Kalihi resident and your elected legislator, I know the infrastructure problems District 30 has had to deal with and I will work through the Legislature and with the City and County of Honolulu to improve our roads, walkways, drainage system, and overall infrastructure.

In addition, with my experience helping to care for my elderly parents, I understand the challenges our kupuna face and will seek to find solutions to Hawaii's looming long-term care crisis. I will explore ways to assist family caregivers by providing stipends for this important group, and will also work to lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs for our residents.

Furthermore, education continues to be one of my top priorities, and I will seek ways to best serve our students and improve our schools.

Our Pledge to you - My team and I pledge to work with you to make our district and state a better and safer place, where our children will have the ability to reach their dreams. We believe in listening to many voices and issues, through respect and relationships, cultural sensitivity, partnerships, and unity, working together to craft a rock solid foundation of state policy, where our people can achieve prosperity and security. Please call me anytime, anywhere. Always know that the doors of my office will always be open to you and your family, because it's your office too. You are my employer and we will always answer to you.

Sincerely,
John Mizuno
State Representative, 30th District

BIOGRAPHY

Representative John M. Mizuno won election in 2006 to represent the 30th Representative district in the Hawaii State Legislature. The 30th district includes the Kamehameha Heights, Kalihi Valley and Fort Shafter areas of the island of Oahu, Hawai'i.

Representative Mizuno was recognized as a "Legislator of the Year" during his first year in office. This was the first time in Hawaii history that a freshman lawmaker has been recognized as a Top Legislator. As Chair of the Human Services Committee, Representative Mizuno has oversight over the second largest department in the state, with the second largest budget in Hawaii.

In 2008, Representative Mizuno graduated from the CSG-WEST Academy, known as the "Top Gun" legislative academy in the nation. The academy selects the top 40 legislators from the nation, with a goal to train them to become our nation's leaders.
