The members of the House Democratic Caucus stand ready to meet the challenges facing our State.

2008 represents a critical point in time for our State. The facilities at our flagship university are in a state of disrepair. Invasive species present a potentially devastating threat to our unique natural ecosystem. The debate continues regarding the appropriate balance of growth versus the need to protect and preserve our lands and natural environment. And the question of Hawaii's role in securing its own energy independence through the development of renewable alternative energies and energy conservation measures hangs in the balance, unanswered.

These and other complex challenges await our people and our leaders as we continue to make our way into the 21st century. We must work together to curb the excesses of the past, and secure a brighter future for our children, and our children's children.
